About Strong Families

Our Concern: We're concerned with the complex needs facing children and families from disadvantaged backgrounds. This includes children whose parents have a disability or who come from a refugee background.

Common struggles include: social isolation; literacy and numeracy; access to health services; household management; parent-child attachment and school readiness.

We believe families can surmount these struggles, with appropriate and timely support. Sadly, the necessary assistance is often not available until a crisis occurs and damage is already done.

A Solution: A lack of timely support led Community Living Association to develop and trial the successful Strong Families pilot. Strong Families adopts an early intervention framework - combining community linking and practical support - to provide a positive start to young families and young lives.

About Our Solar Funding Project

Our goal is to secure ongoing funding for a project helping disadvantaged children and families.

Our plan is to invest in Solar Energy, the return from which provide the project with ongoing funding.

Our fundraising method is unique, as a donation gives to the community as well as the environment and  keeps on giving for up to   25 years.

We're asking you to support us, by donating, joining our facebook page (below) or by attending one of our up-coming events.

NEWSFLASH!

Our first bill is in and we are $4600 in Credit! With the additional systems installed in June 2011, we estimate our association will:

  • Neutralise our electricity cost;
  • Save 247 Tonnes of C02 emissions (equivalent to taking 76 cars off the road for one year) and;
  • Create $10,000.00 of income/cost savings to go toward disadvantaged children we support.
